Romania eFactura System’s New Deadline

In 2020, Romania implemented the e-Invoice system within the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the National Financial Management Agency in accordance with Emergency Regulation No. 130. Starting January 1, 2024, e-Invoicing has become mandatory for all Romanian organizations in B2B transactions.

The grace period for e-Invoice compliance, originally set for March 31, has been extended to May 31, 2024, according to a recent draft regulation. During this period,
companies will be able to harmonize their systems without paying any penalties. After May 31, fines ranging from RON 1,000 to RON 10,000 will apply, depending on
company size, in accordance with the RO e-Invoice guidelines.

In addition, a regime for marking products with tax stamps and products containing tobacco intended to be inhaled without burning is being introduced. This provision helps protect public health by reducing the illegal trade and consumption of tobacco products. You can reach the official news here.
