We are proud to announce the completion of SNI’s Pharmaceutical Traceability System for Kazakhstan, a key solution aligned with Kazakhstan’s digital healthcare transformation. As the country implements its mandatory labeling and traceability system for medicinal products, we are excited to provide an innovative, cloud-based solution integrated with SAP for optimal performance and scalability.
Kazakhstan is implementing a mandatory labeling and traceability system for medicines as part of its digital healthcare transformation. This initiative aims to improve drug supply chain transparency, prevent counterfeit medicines, and enhance inventory management.
The Data Matrix barcode system ensures that each medicinal product can be tracked from the manufacturer to the patient. Similar systems are already in place in countries like Russia, Turkey, and the USA. The introduction of labeling is being carried out in phases, with full implementation set for July 1, 2025.
Challenges include high implementation costs, the need for technical upgrades in medical organizations, and the risk of medicine shortages if the system is not fully integrated. Efforts are being made to address these issues, including collaboration with Kazakhtelecom JSC to enhance the traceability system.
Despite initial difficulties, the labeling system is expected to enhance patient safety, improve regulatory oversight, and support a more efficient pharmaceutical supply chain.
