UAE Launches Pilot Phase of E-Invoicing System

Published: 13 July 2026

The UAE Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Federal Tax Authority, has announced the launch of the pilot phase of the country’s Electronic Invoicing System. The announcement was made during an awareness event held in Sharjah and marks a key step in moving the UAE e-invoicing framework from preparation to practical implementation.

The pilot phase focuses on the activation and testing of the Electronic Invoicing 5-Corner Model, with the participation of relevant stakeholders and Accredited Service Providers. The Ministry stated that this phase is intended to test system readiness, technical integration, and the secure exchange of electronic invoices ahead of the wider rollout.

According to the latest UAE Electronic Invoicing Guidelines, the pilot programme commences on 1 July 2026. The Ministry will contact the persons included in the pilot programme, and participation requires written agreement. From the same date, voluntary implementation is also available for persons wishing to adopt the system before their mandatory implementation date.

The UAE’s mandatory timeline continues to apply in phases. Persons with annual revenue equal to or exceeding AED 50 million must appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 October 2026 and implement the system by 1 January 2027.

The pilot launch confirms that the UAE e-invoicing project has entered its practical application stage, making early technical and operational readiness increasingly important for in-scope businesses.
