KSA- Initiative to Cancel Fines and Exemption from Financial Penalties

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority announced on 28.05.2023 that it urges all taxpayers to take advantage of the “cancellation of fines and exemption from financial penalties” initiative quickly before the end of the initiative period on 31 May 2023.

This initiative covers late registration, late payment, late filing, late submission of declarations, VAT declaration correction and fines in the tax systems of taxpayers.

There are some criteria for taxpayers who wish to benefit from this initiative. Accordingly, the taxpayer who wants to benefit must be registered in the tax system. The taxpayer must have submitted all tax returns to the administration and must have paid the full principal amount of the tax debt for all tax returns due.

If the taxpayer applies within the validity period of the initiative, a request for installments can be submitted to the administration. He also stressed that this initiative does not cover penalties related to tax evasion violations and penalties that have been paid before the effective date of this initiative, provided that the taxpayer undertakes to pay all installments due on the due dates according to the installment plan approved by the Authority, if applied within the relevant period.
