Nigeria and Taiwan have taken significant steps in their digital trade modernization journeys by becoming the latest Peppol Authorities.
On September 26, 2025, Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) was officially listed on the OpenPeppol website as the governing body for the local Peppol network. This milestone reflects Nigeria’s commitment to adopting international e-invoicing standards, facilitating cross-border interoperability, and strengthening its competitiveness in global trade.
Similarly, Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) was announced as the country’s first Peppol Authority on September 22, 2025. The Ministry will develop localized specifications to make adoption easier for domestic companies while safeguarding security requirements. By aligning with Peppol, Taiwan aims to reduce transaction costs, streamline cross-border trade, and promote industrial upgrading.
This move will allow Taiwanese businesses to seamlessly transact with regional partners already in the Peppol network, including Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, and Australia, strengthening the country’s role in the digital economy.
