The Oman Tax Authority (OTA) has revived its initiative to adopt e-invoicing by entering into an agreement with Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel). This partnership is a significant step toward realizing Oman’s digital tax transformation, which was initially planned for 2024 but had been postponed. This collaboration is laying the framework for the development of a modern e-invoicing system. The goal of implementing this system is to improve operational efficiency, enhance public revenue management, and support the country’s Vision 2040.
Omantel will be taking the lead in designing and developing the e-invoicing platform, which will facilitate secure data exchanges and streamline compliance procedures for businesses. Further details, such as implementation timelines, technical specifications, and the anticipated Continuous Transaction Controls (CTC) model, are expected to be announced in the near future. However, it is likely that the previously projected timelines for early 2026 will need to be revised.
